UNDP

POPS

UNDP of Bosnia and Herzegovina approached us with an idea to create a small video dealing with themes of pollution and often reckless behaviour of humankind towards nature. The focus of this particular video were Persistent organic pollutants or POPs in short.

While thinking about the story for this project, we couldn’t ignore the fact that there’s a global pandemic around us. That fact, as well as the fact that some of the team members were expecting a baby, made us more sensitive towards environmental themes that have a special impact on the unborn.

The storyline follows Miro, a farmer who’s unaware of the bad chemicals he’s using in his agricultural process. By chance, he has a child and a pregnant wife, but there’s still time to learn and fix things.

We worked together with amazing Nataša Jovanić to set the visual style for the ad.

Our initial vision for the story to be set in a peaceful village was perfectly in-line with Nataša’s style, which often features rustic elements and settings.

And that perfect pastel palette of her’s…

Since we worked on a hectic schedule and our animation crew worked mainly from home due to the pandemic, we had to ensure we provided them with as much useful information as possible.

That’s why we created a little sea of references and model sheets.

We don’t have a chance to do hand-drawn animation in our commercial projects that often. That’s why we were even more thrilled when guys from UNDP gave us a green light to go with this style.

Apart from our studio crew, we had huge help from our dear freelancer friends, most of whom we collaborate with on a regular basis. Kudos to them!
